Shantanu sees the beautiful fisherwoman  Wikipedia   The Mahabharata, A Summary  by John Mandeville Macfie (1921). [400 words]  Dear Diary, Today has by far been the craziest day of my entire life. Growing up working with my father nobody ever complained of the fishy odor I have always had. My father tells me how beautiful I am everyday but I fear I will never find a true love to marry. Will any man ever accept me and the permanent smell of fish I carry with me. Today was the day I thought that my luck had changed. I was working with father on the ferry and a man caught my attention. Normally I try to avoid getting too close to customers for fear that they will judge me. Today the man on the boat was different, I could tell he desired me. I did not want to give in to this man because my body is for my future husband. He promised if I gave in I would remain pure. In an attempt to make a deal I wondered if he had the ability to make me no longer smell of fish. So against by b

Depiction of Rama a Hindu Diety Source:  Wikipedia Rainy season has halted the journey to find Sita. The months of wind and deluge happen yearly. The month of Sharvan begin the rainy season and they have to sit and wait until the month of Kartik before they continue their journey. It is the thought of one day having her again that keeps him from death. He could not die knowing she was still living on this earth without him. He imagines the day he will have her back and how it will be to feel her touch again. His suffering is so great he does not know if his heart can heal. Ev

The article  A Simple 5-Second Habit to Rewire Your Harshly Self-Critical Brain was interesting because I think everyone suffers from goal setbacks. Finding a strategy that works to overcome the setbacks is what separates success from failure. Personally I struggle with finding a feeling of accomplishment with the little things. I think I get overwhelmed with the big picture sometimes and setbacks push that end goal further into the distance. This REBS strategy to rewire your brain sounds almost too good to be true. I am never one to turn down advice to improve my stress levels so I may try this strategy. The article did say that it takes time to rewire your brain using this REBS so I plan to enact this during fall semester and see if my stress levels are reduced. My initial feeling is that this is not something that works for every person and it depends on your personality if small mantras will indeed reduce stress. The article  Silence the Critical Voices in Your Head was a problem

Topic Brainstorm

Image
Mata Kamadhenu (Mother of Cows) Source:  Wikipedia The first topic I am interested in writing about is the women of the epics. I like the idea that there are so many strong women that are told about in these Indian Epics and the drama that comes with them. I think that using a character such as Subhadra and building the story with her connections other women of the epics could be something I could base my project on. I might consider telling the stories with a modern twist and make them take place in current day. I do not know anything on the subject currently but I feel like this would be a good project because there are so many strong females leads in many of the stories. The second topic I am interested in writing about is birth stories. I do not know much about the birth stories so if there are not enough for a project I would also include death stories like others have done for their past projects. I am a mother so instantly birth stories connected with me because each
